Julian is a well-preserved frontier mining town situated about 50 miles northeast of San Diego's downtown. The entire town is a Designated Historical District with original store fronts, an old fashioned soda fountain, tours of gold mines and the oldest continuous operating hotel in Southern California.
The area is cold enough to have snow, and it is a favorite winter destination for San Diegans. Each fall the apple crop is harvested and made into 10,000 pies. Shops offer unique gifts and antiques in the ambiance of a quaint village.
